Junior Badminton

Junior Badminton at Guernsey Badminton Association

We’re passionate about developing young badminton players across the island – from complete beginners to competitive athletes. Our junior programmes offer exciting coaching, school outreach, and opportunities to represent Guernsey.

How to Get Involved as a Junior?

The Guernsey Badminton Association welcomes young people who want to get involved in the sport of badminton.

A great place to start is by attending the St Michael’s Junior Club Saturday Pay & Play session (details further down the page).  From there, our qualified coach can provide guidance and introduce opportunities to join one of our junior squads.

The junior squads are organised by ability, so all players can feel comfortable and supported. As skills develop, there are opportunities to progress through the squads, helping players reach their potential – and who knows, you could become the island’s badminton star of the future!

Should you have any further questions that are not answered on this page, please use the Contact Us form and select “Juniors Enquiry” when submitting your enquiry. Our Junior team will review your message and provide a helpful response as quickly as possible. We are happy to assist with any questions about sessions, squad opportunities, junior leagues, or getting involved in the club in general.

🏸 Junior League & Competitions

In addition, our Junior League runs every Friday from 16:30 to 18:30, giving players the chance to apply what they’ve learned in a fun, competitive, and supportive environment. It’s a great way for juniors to challenge themselves, make friends, and take their game to the next level.

We also host two junior competitions each year: the Junior Closed and the Junior Open.

  • Junior Closed (October) – open only to juniors who were born in Guernsey or currently reside on the island.

  • Junior Open (March) – open to all juniors, both on and off the island, with a range of visiting players from across the UK.

Both events are hosted via the Badminton England platform, and these events provide a great opportunity for young players to start gaining ranking points and grading wins, as well as having competition against fellow players within their age bracket.
