Guernsey has a number of annual tournaments that allow and encourage participation for players of all standards.
The Guernsey Badminton Association Annual Closed Tournament is the primary competitive tournament and is the official Island Championships for Guernsey resident players at, or aspiring to reach county standard. The Closed Tournament will take place from Monday 29th November – Friday 3rd December, 2021. Sarnia Challenge is a team event consisting of a team of 7, two ladies, two men, a veteran, and two junior player, this will be played on 4 separate days Sat 25th Sept; Sat 13th Nov; Sat 15th Jan; Fri 11th March (finals).Sarnia Challenge entry form 2021-22
The Guernsey Badminton Association Annual Handicap Tournament takes place at the end of January and has been established to allow players of all standards a good chance of fun and competitive games. The format is the same as the Closed Tournament, although there is not a separate Veterans section, but all players and partnerships are awarded positive or negative points to create a level playing field. All club and social players are encouraged to participate as this provides a real opportunity to have some good games against players of all standards where anyone can win!

NEW TOURNAMENT: 30 Points Tournament: Saturday 5th March 13:00 – 18:00hrs. This is a ‘fun’ level double tournament open to all ages and abilities, it will be graded on age/ability. GBA 30 tournament entry form
The Guernsey Senior Silver and The Guernsey Masters Bronze Thursday 14th April – Saturday 16th April, 2022
are Badminton England sanctioned events that form part of the English circuit. Together they form the Guernsey Open – an event that is open to anyone to participate in, so long as they are members of Badminton England.
The tournament takes place over the Easter weekend every year, starting with singles and a selection of the Masters games on the evening of Thursday 14th April, followed by all day Friday 15th and Saturday 16th April
The tournament is also an important social event for the Guernsey Badminton Association with the bar and canteen open over the three days, a social event on the Friday evening and an evening meal, cabaret (provided by the players and guests players!) and music hosted on the Saturday night at a venue (TBC).
